Bread
  • 4 cups bread cubes toasted lightly
Sausage
  • 1 lb pounds sausage cooked and browned
Butter
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted
Onions
  • 1 cup diced onions
Celery
  • 1 cup diced celery
Apples
  • 2 medium diced apples
Herbs
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs e.g., sage, thyme
Salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
Chicken Broth
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
Eggs
  • 2 eggs beaten eggs

Method
 

  1. Toast bread cubes at 300°F for 10 minutes until crisp.
  2. Cook sausage until browned; set aside. Sauté onions, celery, and apples in butter until soft and caramelized.
  3. Mix bread, sausage, and apple mixture; season with herbs, salt, and pepper. Add broth and eggs, then combine.
  4. Transfer to a greased dish and bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes until golden and tender.
  5. Rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish as desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or a sprinkle of fresh herbs before baking.
