Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Wash and scrub the baking potato. Pierce it several times with a fork.
- Bake the potato for 1 hour, or until soft when pierced with a fork.
- Carefully remove the potato from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Slice the potato lengthwise and fluff the inside with a fork.
- Stir in butter, salt, and pepper.
- Top the potato with the prepared macaroni and cheese.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired.
- Return the potato to the oven for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly (if using).
- Serve immediately.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a sharp cheddar cheese in your macaroni and cheese.
